And now we take in

 

the fair, flawless,

 

purity of an unbroken

 

flowing.

 

This big love, like a

 

clear, meandering

 

stream in the canyon,

 

has faithfully shaped us.

 

Slow and silent, this

 

stream persists.

 

Its gentle carving,

 

reveals beloved

 

beings beneath

 

sand and rock.

 

I see you

 

when I did not

 

see you

 

before.

 

Within us, and around us,

 

and between us,

 

this stream,

 

without our

 

noticing,

 

has done its work.

 

And will do its work.

Janice Odell is a poet and screenwriter. She has appeared in films with Helen Hunt, Clint Eastwood and Robin Williams. She has played Lady MacBeth in “that Scottish play,” Rosalyn in As You Like It, and Katherine in The Taming of the Shrew, among others. Janice and her husband Bill continue to pursue their creative projects. She has completed a screenplay based on his book.

Neslişah Tilki is a Turkish-born artist now based in Portland, Oregon. Born in Izmir, Nesli originally learned to draw and paint from her father – the Turkish artist Senol Tilki. After completing her BA in Fine Art, she took part in several group exhibitions and workshops in Turkey. In 2017, she moved to New York. Her experiences there, as well as the pandemic, motivated a step into illustration. Her painted work is often playful, dealing with sarcasm and specific words with ambiguous meanings. Her collaboration with Niftylit marks her first published illustrations in America.
