Poet Nicole Desjardin Gowdy invites us to consider if a modern day Ophelia would suffer the same fate as her Shakespearean counterpart.

Nicole Desjardins Gowdy lives outside Los Angeles. She has a BA in English (Creative Writing emphasis) and Communication Arts from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, where she received the University Book Store Award for Academic Excellence for her creative writing thesis. She also has an MA in International Education from SIT Graduate Institute. Her writing has appeared in Canvas and The Bangalore Review.

Ella Jensen is a second year art major at Sonoma State University. They have spent their entire life admiring, creating, and finding all types of art in the world. NiftyLit is Ella’s debut as a working artist, which they are very stoked about. Ella is a nature-lover, a social justice advocate, and an intellectual bad-ass. Ella is very excited for the coming school year and to continue making their mark on the world.
