Neslişah Tilki
Illustrator
Neslişah Tilki is a Turkish-born artist now based in Portland, Oregon. Born in Izmir, Nesli originally learned to draw and paint from her father – the Turkish artist Senol Tilki. After completing her BA in Fine Art, she took part in several group exhibitions and workshops in Turkey. In 2017, she moved to New York. Her experiences there, as well as the pandemic, motivated a step into illustration. Her painted work is often playful, dealing with sarcasm and specific words with ambiguous meanings. Her collaboration with Niftylit marks her first published illustrations in America.

The Thing That Is Not Her Son
"Her son-shaped thing never answers. It looks back at her with pits instead of eyes, black and bottomless. She digs deeper and deeper into them - clawing, searching - and she knows that one day she won’t be able to re-emerge."

in honor of his wife
