Katie Humphries was born and raised in Florida but has lived in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and children for over twenty years. She has an MFA in Creative Writing from the Rainier Writing Workshop at Pacific Lutheran University, an M.A.T. in English as a Second Language from Georgetown University, and a B.A. in English from Davidson College. She has taught English as a Second Language at the university and high school levels, as well as abroad in Poland with the U.S. Peace Corps. Katie loves the short story and writes nothing else. Her stories, set in the Pacific Northwest and the American South, explore themes of honesty, identity, and control within relationships. She has one prior publication (“Diana, Goddess of… “) in Grande Dame Literary Journal. “Engagement” is her second publication.
