Patricia Smith is the author of The Year of Needy Girls, a finalist for the Lambda Literary Award. Her fiction has been published in Blue Mountain Review, Master’s Review, So to Speak, and The Tusculum Review, among others. Her nonfiction has appeared most recently in Makeout Creek, and her work has also been featured in Feels Blind Literary, Hippocampus, Broad Street, Parhelion Literary Magazine, Prime Number, Gris Gris, and several anthologies. A three-time Pushcart Prize nominee, Smith’s writing has received Special Mention from Pushcart and recognition for Best of the Net.
A native New Englander, she lives with her wife in Virginia, where she teaches American Literature and Creative Writing at the Appomattox Regional Governor’s School in Petersburg.
